Go Gorilla Trekk - We went on a 7 day 6 night trip, including Guerrilla and Chimp trekking as well as game drives. It was an excellent trip. Everything was amazing except the... read more amount of driving we did. The hotel/lodges were top notch. The only thing we would have done different was probably fly from our last destination to Entebbe instead of driving for 9 hours.
Our guide and driver, Herbert, was the best part of the trip!!. He was exceptional in everything he did. His knowledge was extensive and we learned a lot. His driving ability was top notch!!

Go with Go Gorilla (and hopefully with Douglas!) - My husband and I had an AMAZING trip in Uganda with Go Gorilla, and more specifically with our guide, Douglas. Douglas greeted us at the airport with a massive smile,... read more which set the tone for the rest of the trip. We chose the medium level/ deluxe level package, and all of the hotels were wonderful. Even though they weren't the "highest" level package offered from Go Gorilla, they felt quiet luxurious to us, with awesome food and turndown service.
A bit more about our awesome guide/driver: Douglas made sure we got everywhere on time, and that we always knew what the game plan was for the day. When my husband hurt his back (just #middleage, not because of the trip!), Douglas found us a doctor to get him medication. He kept the care stocked with essentials for us, including toilet paper and antibacterial wipes. Douglas also found out that we loved cold water and stopped at every chance to make sure we were stocked up-- water is life!
Overall, we saw awesome animals and really enjoyed the itinerary that was made for us. Every activity we did had the best guides (For example, the swamp walk had a specific expert guide for that activity. For the game drives, Douglas was with us with someone who was an expert in Queen Elizabeth national park and the animals there). We felt safe everywhere we went. Do yourself a favor and travel with Go Gorilla!

nice 2 day gorilla safari from Kigali to Uganda staying at Rushaga gorilla camp - my plans in South Africa fell through so I had extra time in Africa. Go Gorilla Trekking was able to accommodate me short notice – I think this is... read more the slow season – and was even somewhat flexible. I was picked up at the airport as a solo woman traveler, and driven to Rushaga Gorilla camp. This was a 5 1/2 hour drive over somewhat rutty roads. My driver, James was considerate, and we talked about life and politics in Rwanda and Uganda. He helped with the border crossing.
We got to the lodge a around 7 PM, which is a shame because it really is a lovely place. Didn't have much time other than to eat and sleep, but the food was great, the ambience lovely, the staff very nice. Had a to do over again. I think I would've enjoyed another day there.
The next day got up and going after a very nice breakfast, and had orientation with the park Rangers. My group took only 45 to 50 minutes to find the gorillas thanks to the trackers. The gorillas were fairly sedentary but it was interesting to be so close and watch them. Rather surreal. James was ready for me as soon as I got back and we returned to the road. Stopping for lunch on the way back. Got to try some typical rwandan food at a local restaurant that I enjoyed. James dropped me at my Airbnb with a little bit of calling for navigation.
I appreciated the packing list given by The company, but must say I just wore sneakers for the trip. Carrying boots for 5 to 6 weeks for five hours of use. Felt like too much. I was perfectly fine. Did appreciate the advice to bring gloves. They had neglected to say that I would need to wear a mask when around the gorillas, I wound up just putting a scarf over my nose and mouth. A neck gator would've worked.
I made this mistake of getting a single entry Rwanda visa. You'll have to come in at the airport, and then return after seeing the gorillas which makes two. An East African tourism visa would've covered Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, but I didn't know about it at the time. It was very easy to get a visa at the Rwandan border, both coming in at the airport and at the road border. I didn't need a Uganda visa because I've gotten one online but that looked reasonable too.
For me, there was a lot of driving over two days, but it was really lovely to see the countryside, the hills, the tea, plantations and banana trees, etc. And again. I thought the lodge lovely. Suggest you bring plenty of water or ask your driver to stop for that. Also, you'll need to ask to stop for toilet facilities. I didn't bring enough water and my driver didn't have any. I wound up sharing with him, and got rather behind myself.
I can't say that I really had that much interaction with the office staff. Everything seem to go pretty well for me with prompt replies, etc.
