This 5 Days Uganda Safari takes you for an amazing journey to two Uganda’s national parks; Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and Queen Elizabeth National Park. The trip takes for you an amazing encounter with mountain gorillas, chimpanzees and wildlife.
Trip Itinerary
Day 1: Travel to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park (5-7 Hours)
After breakfast, pickup from the hotel in Kigali at 10.00AM. Take a brief Kigali City Tour. Visit the Gisozi Genocide Memorial Site, and get to learn about the tragic history of past two genocides in Rwanda.
After the tour, start the journey to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, home to almost half of the world’s remnant population of mountain gorillas. You will travel north via the Virunga Region that is shared by the Volcanoes National Park and the Mgahinga National Park. Have lunch at Musanze Town, a town located on the foothills of the Volcanoes National Park.
Cross the border via Cyanika and travel to the southern sector of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. After crossing the border, travel from Kisoro to Kisoro and the journey takes you through the tropical rain forest. Relax all evening at the beautiful lodge. Overnight at Chameleon Hill Lodge (Luxury) / Buhoma Lodge or Clouds Mountain Gorilla Lodge (Ultra Luxury)
Day 2: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Forest
Early breakfast at the lodge. After breakfast, the guide will drive you the trailhead of Nkuringo in Southern Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. We will go with some packed lunch. Go for a briefing about the ‘Dos’ and ‘Don’ts’ of the gorilla trekking session you are to take.
Guided by park rangers, you will start the hike into the forest to start the search for the mountain gorillas. Gorilla Tracking can take between 2-8 hours depending on the movements of the gorilla family that you will be assigned to track.
Gorilla Tracking involves walking up steep and densely forested hills before finally coming across the gorillas camouflaged in their vegetation. Upon meeting the great apes, you will stay with these giant apes for 1 hour for observation and photography.
After the gorilla trek, have a lunch at the Lodge. Relax at the lodge all afternoon. Overnight at Chameleon Hill Lodge / Buhoma Lodge or Clouds Mountain Gorilla Lodge (Luxury)
Day 3: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park
Travel to Queen Elizabeth National Park, a world biosphere reserve with an amazing array of flora and fauna. This is also Uganda’s second largest national park and it is packed with a beautiful combination of forests, grasslands and waterscapes. You will be picked up from the airstrip and transferred to the lodge. Check into the Elephant Plains Lodge. Have Lunch at the Lodge.
After lunch, go for an evening game drive in the Queen Elizabeth National Park. -Several animals can be seen during a game drive in the park. These include large mammals as well as big cats including lions, leopards, and more. The game drive is through savanna grasslands. Overnight at the Mweya Safari Lodge (Luxury) / Elephant Plains Lodge (Ultra Luxury)
Day 4: Chimpanzee Tracking in Kyambura
Have Breakfast. Transfer to Kyambura Gorge, the only place you will find chimps in Queen Elizabeth National Park. Go for chimpanzee tracking in the tropical rainforest. Have lunch. Sum up the day with a sundowner cruise along the Kazinga Channel, a water getaway connecting Lake Edward and Lake George. Overnight at the Mweya Safari Lodge (Luxury) / Elephant Plains Lodge (Ultra Luxury)
Day 5: Morning Game Drive & Transfer to Kasese Airstrip
Go for a morning game drive in Queen Elizabeth National Park. The adventure will reward you with the view of early raisers among other animals and birds. Embark on a return trip to Entebbe. Lunch will be taken enroute.
